The Running (Rated) Wattage corresponds to the maximum wattage the generator can output on a continuous basis.

The Starting (Surge) wattage corresponds to the maximum amount of power the generator can output for a short period of time. Many electrical devices such as refrigerators require short bursts of extra power, in addition to the rated wattage listed by the device, to stop and start their motors. The surge wattage ability of the generator covers this extra power requirement.

is a high quality. wheels are solid rubber so they will never pop. Axle and wheel hubs are all steel and good quality. my only complaint is how the high the handle is, you must lift the handle higher than natural to keep the rubber vibration pads from rubbing on the ground, all things considered its a high quality and saves my back from carrying the 100 plus pound generator around. amazon states that it is for the 46515, but according to the box it also works with c46540, c46535, c46535csa, 40008, 40010, 46513, 46514, 46516, 46551 (bad item discription amazon)

The wheels, front feet, and handle come in a parts box (included) that you self-install on the generator. The directions are very straightforward and installation was very simple.
It includes a funnel and oil for filling the machine (I believe 10w-30). You must install oil prior to using it! (Some people might forget which will ruin the generator!)
During the 8 days, I was running a Samsung French Door fridge, a Flotech Sump Pump, my furnace blower, and some lights / phone chargers with no significant voltage drop - steadily around 120, and never less than 119 volts.
I would run the generator for 2-4 hours at a time, and it seemed to be very efficient on fuel given the load I mentioned above.
Some notes that I think others may find important:
1. The 'regular' 120v outlets on this unit will provide 20amp and up to 2900 Watts, NOT 3500. In order to get the 3500, you need to use either the RV outlet, or the 30Amp 125v left-most outlet.
2. The noise level was acceptable. You did have to raise your voice if standing next to the generator, but it was not as loud as other generators I heard during the storm.
3. There is no 240v outlet on this generator - not that one was promised, but in case you were looking for that (220/240), this isn't the generator for you.
4. The weight of the generator was manageable. The wheels worked great. The handle placement is a little odd, and when dragging the generator behind me, I had to take short steps otherwise I would clip my trailing foot with the generator.

I did my research, and looked over countless reviews. I bought the Whistler Pro-2000 watt power inverter, and I am VERY HAPPY!!! I am a trucker so I know what I am talking about when it comes to the needs of everyday power inverter use. I didn't want to have to use all 4 batteries to run a power inverter. I was using a Sima STP 1500 watt power inverter, and it always had problems running my 700 watt micro wave. I installed my Whistler Pro-2000 watt today and it worked just great. I am all smiles. My micro wave worked great without any problems. The digital read out told me how many watts I was using, and the 3 fans on the back kept it nice and cool. The old inverter would take 4 min. to cook a bag of popcorn, I guess because it wasn't supplying enough power. With my Whistler I was able to cook the same bag of popcorn in 2:30 min. and it almost burnt the popcorn, that is how well it performed. I will continue to update this review when I test it even further.

To all the people who have issues in getting full or high wattage out of this or any other unit: you MUST have thick (#4) and short (3-4ft) 12v cables to your battery bank. Otherwise the inverter will be starved for current and cause the "low voltage protection" to kick in. Make sure your battery/ bank are up to the task as well.

DuroStar DS4000S 4,000 Watt Portable Generator

We have used over the last 3 days to power fridge, 2 fans, charge mobile phones and laptops and run a few lights. We are getting approx a run time of just over 13 hours on one tank (4 gallon) of gas.
Last night even hooked up the tv and cable so our son could watch some tv. Nick, Nick, Nick, Nickeloden. :)
This morning it powered the coffee maker and iron so we could be awake and wrinkle free.
I really did not expect the generator to run as long as it did on one tank so very happy with the purchase.
Next thing to purchase is something to cover it in case of heavy rain. Setup a tarp over table with bungee cords last night but would like something quicker to setup.
If we continue to have the power outage problem here in Oak Park we may look into the natural gas generator that hooks into electric system and fails over automatically. As always we will try to get it from Amazon our favorite store.
